My migration experience informs who I am and who I strive to be. I strongly believe I would not be the person I am today if I had come up in Tijuana and attended school there. I was lucky enough to have an amazing support system that guided me through my struggle – as a young lesbian mujer of color.
“I began internalizing the systematic oppression ingrained in and out of the school system, but my familia and community always had my back.”
I believe this is the main reason I succeeded in classrooms that were never meant for people like myself. This is also why I strive to perpetuate this cycle in my present and future. Love is what saved me.
“Mi locura es sagrada. No me toquen.”
